Session Law Firm Adds Staff to Meet the Increasing
Demands of Environmental Law

KANSAS CITY, MO (October 15, 2008) – The Session Law Firm, an environmental law firm based in Kansas City, Mo., today announced that attorneys David Benson, Chris Wendelbo and Jackie Hartis have joined their staff. The Session Law Firm offers its clients compelling solutions in the practice of environmental law.

The addition of Benson, Wendelbo and Hartis represents the continued growth of the firm as more attention is focused on environmental law issues from both the government and private sectors.

David Benson
Benson received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa School of Law. Benson also holds a M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a B.A. in Geology from the University of Iowa.

Benson has worked with a cross-section of environmental statutes, Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) cleanups and cost recovery actions, and conducting environmental due diligence for real estate transactions. Benson also has experience in the area of government contracting and contract claims litigation, and maintains an active interest in the emerging area of climate change.

Chris Wendelbo
Wendelbo received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Wendelbo also holds a Masters of Law Degree in Environmental Law from the George Washington University Law School.

Wendelbo represented the United States Army, local governments and private entities in the remediation and effective reuse of contaminated former military property throughout the United States. As Captain of the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps and subsequently as a civilian attorney, Wendelbo was the primary environmental attorney from the United States Army Environmental Law Division to the Army Base Realignment and Closure Office.

Wendelbo has represented clients in environmental compliance and litigation, including contribution and indemnity actions, toxic tort issues and third-party cost recovery actions. He has also participated as a member of environmental due diligence teams in connection with the merger of large defense industrial base companies.

In addition to their prior experience adding to the strength of the Session team overall, Benson and Wendelbo will be working together focusing on environmental issues involving the contamination of federal facilities relating to the Base Closure and Realignment Commission, formerly utilized defense sites and military munitions sites.

Jackie Hartis
Hartis received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. Hartis also holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Kansas.

Hartis has represented parties in private cost recovery and contribution actions under CERCLA. Additionally, she has represented numerous clients in administrative proceedings before the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Hartis also has experience dealing with treatment, storage and disposal facilities regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Further, she has advised clients regarding issues of regulatory compliance, and represented clients threatened in both civil and criminal sanctions under federal environmental statutes. She also has experience in the representation of clients in contribution actions involving cleanup of environmentally impaired property for potential development.
