Today CBRE, Inc., the property management and leasing company for Hawthorne Plaza, announces the grand reopening of the neighborhood shopping destination located on the southwest corner of 119th Street and Roe Avenue in Johnson County, after a multimillion dollar renovation.
The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Hawthorne Plaza. Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach will officially re-open the shopping center at the ceremony, which will take place in the new courtyard at Hawthorne Plaza, located just south of the main entrance from 119th Street.
The grand reopening celebration runs the full week of July 20 and includes:
- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Friday, July 24 at 11 a.m. Overland Park Mayor, Carl Gerlach will preside over the ceremony.
- Sidewalk Sale – Enjoy savings from more than 30 boutiques and specialty shops Thursday, July 23 through Sunday, July 26.
- Over $1,000 Worth of Prizes– Stop by the live remotes with Mix 93.3 FM and KCKC 102.1 FM on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and register to win a $500 Hawthorne Plaza shopping spree and various other prizes from the Hawthorne Plaza merchants.

The renovation included:
- A modern, updated look including rooflines, stucco, brick veneer, stonework and signage.
- Improved traffic flow throughout the center.
- Becoming home to The Container Store, the nation’s leading retailer of storage and organization products.
