Big Responsibility Leads to Career in Small Business

The opportunity to contribute more directly to the life and operations of a small business and its employees led Jeff Rosenthal to Boyer & Corporon Wealth Management (Boyer Corporon).

Jeff, who joined Boyer Corporon in June 2012, had previously been with Midwest Emergency Physicians for nearly a decade. During that time, he steadily earned promotions and increasing responsibilities, giving him a solid background in the variety of skills and knowledge necessary to manage human resources, benefits, office operations and company finances.

“We look for two critical attributes when we hire new team members,” said Mindy Corporon, chief executive officer of the firm. “Technical experience and proficiency is a minimum. A deep understanding of success in a small business culture is equally important for our staff.”

Demonstrating his technical experience, Jeff served as the payroll, 401k and benefit manager for Medical Management Solutions for the past 6 years. There he oversaw benefits such as 401k; health, dental and life insurance; COBRA; maternity and military leave for 300 employees. Jeff also developed yearly company budgets, quarterly financial reporting to the Board of Directors, and all intercompany financial audits.

At Boyer & Corporon Wealth Management, Jeff will put that experience to work managing the firm’s employee operations. He will also add a variety of office operations to his job description, including office accounting, network administration, and marketing.

“I like the small business atmosphere and the opportunity to take on operations and really make an impact,” Jeff says about his move to Boyer & Corporon Wealth Management. “I foresee my role being vital to the future growth of the client-centric culture in a small business. I know it’s a big responsibility and I look forward to the challenge.”

Jeff, who grew up and attended high school in the Kansas City area, attended college at Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, where he earned both a B.A. in Accounting (with an emphasis in finance) and a B.A. in Business Administration. Gunnison, Colorado is a mountainous mecca for skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking and back packing—all activities Jeff pursued passionately while completing his degrees. Once settled in his new position, Jeff plans to study for the CPA exam.

A resident of Olathe, Kansas, Jeff stays active playing golf and basketball. He also enjoys participating in an annual charitable volleyball tournament. Serve for the Cause, which supports Camp Quality of Greater Kansas City, a non-profit that provides free camping experiences and year-round support programs for children with cancer.
